CSIR NGRI Technician Selection Process 2026

The selection process is particularly important for candidates preparing for this recruitment.

Stage 1 – Screening / Shortlisting

Applications will first be scrutinized by a Screening Committee constituted by the Director, CSIR-NGRI.

Possessing the minimum qualification alone does not guarantee that a candidate will be called for the Trade Test or Competitive Written Examination. The Screening Committee will adopt its own criteria for shortlisting candidates.

Candidates should therefore mention all relevant qualifications and experience above the minimum requirement and upload supporting documents.

Stage 2 – Trade Test

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Trade Test.

The Trade Test is designed to assess the candidate’s practical knowledge and skills related to the advertised trade and job requirements.

The Selection Committee will decide the mode and conduct of the Trade Test.

Candidates who qualify in the Trade Test will become eligible to appear in the Competitive Written Examination.

Stage 3 – Competitive Written Examination

The Competitive Written Examination consists of three papers:

Important Rule for Paper-I

Paper-II and Paper-III will be evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum threshold marks in Paper-I. The minimum threshold will be decided by the Selection Committee.

The final merit list will be prepared only on the basis of marks obtained in Paper-II and Paper-III.

Therefore, candidates should understand that the Trade Test is a qualifying stage, Paper-I acts as a qualifying/threshold stage, and the marks of Paper-II and Paper-III determine the final merit.
