Educational Qualification
Technical Assistant
Candidates applying for Technical Assistant posts must possess a First Class Diploma in the relevant engineering discipline.

Technician ‘B’

Fireman ‘A’

- Satisfy the prescribed physical fitness standards

ISRO IPRC Age Limit 2026
The age limit is calculated as on 5 October 2026.
- Technical Assistant, Technician ‘B’ and Cook ‘A’: 18 to 35 years
- Fireman ‘A’: 18 to 25 years
Age relaxation is applicable to eligible reserved-category candidates and other categories as per Government of India rules. SC/ST candidates are eligible for 5 years relaxation and OBC candidates for 3 years where the post is reserved for the respective category.

The salary depends on the post and corresponding Pay Matrix level.
Technical Assistant

Technician ‘B’
- Pay Level: Level 3

Cook ‘A’
- Pay Level: Level 2

In addition to basic pay, eligible employees can receive allowances and benefits according to applicable Government of India/ISRO rules. ISRO IPRC Selection Process 2026
The selection process varies slightly depending on the post.
Technical Assistant, Technician ‘B’ and Cook ‘A’
The selection process consists of:
- Written Test
- Skill Test
For Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’, the written examination is based on the curriculum of the prescribed educational qualification.
For these posts, the Skill Test is conducted on a GO/NO-GO basis. Marks obtained in the Skill Test are not added to the final selection score. Final selection is based on the Written Test marks among candidates who qualify in the Skill Test.
Written Test Pattern
For Technical Assistant and Technician ‘B’:
- Number of Questions: 80
- Type: Multiple Choice Questions
- Duration: 90 minutes
- Correct Answer: +1 mark
- Wrong Answer: -0.33 mark
- Maximum Marks: 80
The minimum qualifying marks are 32/80 for UR candidates and 24/80 for candidates belonging to the applicable reserved category.
Candidates qualifying in the Written Test are shortlisted for the Skill Test in a 1:5 ratio, with a minimum of 10 candidates per post.
The Skill Test carries 100 marks and candidates must normally secure at least 50 marks, while the applicable reserved-category qualifying mark is 40 marks.
Cook ‘A’ Selection Process
For Cook ‘A’:
- Written Test
- Skill Test
The Written Test contains 100 objective questions and has a duration of 120 minutes.
- Correct answer: +1 mark
- Wrong answer: -0.25 mark
The Skill Test is qualifying in nature and candidates must secure at least 60 out of 100 marks.
Fireman ‘A’ Selection Process
The Fireman ‘A’ selection process consists of:
- Written Test
- Preliminary Medical Examination
- Physical Efficiency Test/Skill Test
- Detailed Medical Examination
- Final empanelment
The Fireman Written Test consists of 100 MCQs with a duration of 120 minutes. There is a negative marking of 0.25 mark for every wrong answer.
Candidates who qualify the Written Test and meet the preliminary medical requirements are shortlisted for the Physical Efficiency Test. The PET consists of two stages, and candidates must qualify in all prescribed events. Candidates who qualify the PET undergo Detailed Medical Examination. Final empanelment is based on Written Test marks among candidates who successfully clear the required stages.
Fireman ‘A’ Physical Efficiency Test
The Physical Efficiency Test includes events such as:
- 1500 metre/800 metre run
- Rope climbing
- Carrying a human dummy
- Long jump
- 100 metre run
The qualifying standards vary according to age and gender category. Candidates must qualify in all prescribed events to proceed to the next stage.
ISRO IPRC Exam City
The Written Test will be conducted through offline OMR mode at:
- Tirunelveli
- Chennai
Candidates have to select their preferred examination city while submitting the online application. The notification states that the city choice cannot be changed later.
Exam Language
The examination language varies by post.
For Technical Assistant posts, the question paper will be bilingual in English and Hindi.
